Mecha Zone 1.5 sketches part 1 by Mecha-Zone Mecha Zone 1.5 sketches part 1 by Mecha-Zone
Here are 7 sketches I made today. Each one was drawn inside a copy of my Mecha Zone 1.5 book as a reward for pre-ordering the book. I think it was a pretty good day! I just got back from the post office... these went out randomly to US pre-orders. Maybe one of them is in your book?

These aren't supposed to be any particular mechs, just whatever my brain barfed out, but some of them are pretty generic so they may be reminiscent of existing mechs. I'm sure you'll let me know ;)

Sure, I am familiar with Heavy Gear. I haven't played it but I met all the people involved at last years Gencon gaming convention. Nice bunch of people!

I like F best of all of this batch. A, D, and E are also cool, but I like F because of what you've done with its feet, which really aren't feet. I'm lacking the word for what those are.

those are treads. I can tell from your other comments that you don't like legs and feet very much.

Remind me of Armored Core games, specially F from the arcade one I played long ago

I am diffidently digging D, and F. Especially F, the treads give it a very unique look.

hmm... B appears to me as some sort of compact scout unit. a handful of slots cut into the legs on the inner sideand it could fold in on itself for really compact storage. reverse leg joints could also help with recoil from what I think is a railgun (though the torque impacted the turret seems to be an issue, offsetting the cockpit to center the gun on the turret ring would solve that).

F seems to be a general workhorse unit, able to mount whatever the battalion needs at the time. Would need other units for any close range fighting, though.

wait... now I'm doubting myself on the leg folding comment. I need to think more...
