March of Robots 5/31 by Mecha-Zone March of Robots 5/31 by Mecha-Zone
I'm participating in the March of Robots daily sketch event on Instagram #marchofrobots instagram.com/mechazone

Tonight I tackled Rugger XI which is basically the hips of vehicle Voltron. Wish I had changed the angle of the vehicle for better presentation, but I guess it's still OK. I imagine the hands are the locking mechanisms that attach the legs.

I'm loving this project!
You do realize you're going to HAVE to draw their combined form too, right?
And I bet you're even planning to do a 16th Rugger, which can attach to DaiRugger XV to make it Dai DaiRugger XVI! ;-)

Oh yeah I realize what I've gotten myself into. I thought about it quite a bit before I committed to drawing all 15 vehicles and mecha modes plus the 3 combined modes plus Dairugger XV mode. Man, I get tired just thinking about it! My plan is to do a drawing for one version of each vehicle type and then go back and do the duplicate vehicles. I know the other vehicles have some cosmetic differences, but at least I won't have to make original transformation methods for all of them.

So I'm not really fretting over the little stuff with this. I'm just going to draw one sketch for each vehicle/bot and do whatever comes to mind. I'll try to do a good job of course, but my #1 goal is to have fun.

Good deal. Well, definitely looking forward to the results!

Ugh, I just wish my rate of output was anywhere near yours...

Output? You should weigh my output with quality and the quality of these sketches is, well, sketchy. I'm just doing enough to get the ideas down and not completely embarrass myself, if you know what I mean. It is a lot easier to get more done when you aren't fretting over making everything perfect. I used to do that and I didn't get a lot done... but I've had a bit of a sketch revolution in my brain and now I'm trying to have more fun and be looser unless it's absolutely necessary to make a final piece of art for a job. Now it is all about the idea.
