Inktober #3 Maximillian by Mecha-Zone Inktober #3 Maximillian by Mecha-Zone
I'm participating in the drawing-a-day event, Inktober! I try to post them all... eventually ;)

This sketch is my attempt to give Maximillian from Disney's 1979 movie, The Black Hole, a more *real robot* style. He's a deep crimson red in the movie and overall a really evil robot!

Can't believe I missed this, I love Black Hole! While it was before my time, my dad told me if you grew up in the 80s, you were either terrified of Darth Vader or Maximilian.

This just makes him even more scary XD friggin blender arms.

No that would be a fun scratch build...and tough.  But, there would have to be one minor change....

Awesome stuff there, Dave!

I like this one, but I would not change the spaceship for anything.  Talking about the Crystal Palace in space!

This movie was before my time but i get the idea they didn't have the technology to make the movie they wanted. Black Hole has a great story and it should have a remake.

Lucas said he didn't have the tech to tell his "other" Star Wars stories. Well he invented/enhanced the tech to make the first three, then crashed(not before he cashed in) on his first prequel(did we need the tech to make Jar Jar?), then over used tech in his Indiana Jones sequal.

But with black whole it forces me to think of what they were trying to do.

Checked the wiki entry and they have the director from Tron: Legacy(it was an alright sequal but seemed quick in pace) working on it, don't mean much. The original was a response to well, Star Wars. It was also disney's last in house SFX film(in which they shut down the FX shop after the movie). Funny fact, they reused props from the film for test shots of TRON's FX techniques(mostly the STARS robot suits). Look kinda like a SyFy movie is today, only they really put a budget into it.

I liked aspects of Tron Legacy but overall it wasn't a good movie. I was upset when they were going to have J.J. Abrams do Star Wars but they changed there minds. Even if it's low budget i think seeing a new version of Black Hole would be good if they can make the story as mysterious as the original .

No offence JJ, but what happened to your second Trek movie? The first wasn't too bad, he had time to work on the second, and it fell flat on its face. Why would they choose him for Star Wars? Len flares? Nolan would be an interesting choice. And we know Lucas has shown that he can't direct nor handle films anymore, least they didn't defualt to Bay. They might as well be better off with an "up and coming" or "fresh" director helming the movie('s). Lots of "great" directors get there by luck, that doesn't hold for long, or talent that dries up leaving them only a Name to attach to a movie. They have a success and then lose focus on the "work".

In several interviews leading up to the release of his original Star Trek Abrams said he was never a fan of Star Trek. So we had someone who didn't like Star Trek remaking the series. I love Lost but the way it ended sucked and he just doesn't know how to end a series very well. Michael did Transformers in a manner that still upsets me. I like him as a co director. Pearl Harbor was very well done. Star Wars could be good as long as he does showy things and doesn't scrip or influence a story. I still hate the way Optimus Prime looked, Bumble's expressionless and the concept of the Allspark. I am a huge fan of the G1 Transformers.

Okay this just looks BAD ASS!
And the Black Hole is one of my all time favorite Disney movies.
I heard they are doing a re-make... I just hope they have this bad boy.  And VIN C.E.N.T. too.

ANOTHER Remake!?!!???
Total Recall was a Total FAIL, The Robocop reboot/remake is sketchy in my view. The Dredd remake was good, though it did barrow its main setup from another movie(not that it was BAD), and JJ Abrams just about sunk his Trek reboot with only his second film. Don't get started on the Willy Wonka Remake...

This feels like a cross between two great robot villains; I think you just need a laser gun on one arm and you'd have Maximillatron.
