Battletech: Sling by Mecha-Zone Battletech: Sling by Mecha-Zone
This is my illustration for the Sling Battlemech from the Battletech book "Historical: Operation Klondike". You can buy the book from your local game store or order it online. It's a great book and I highly recommend it!

This image is at 72 dpi... my original file was created at 600 dpi.

This is the 8th of 8.

This was a new design for the book. I don't like it very much... it is an amalgamation of two other mechs but I can't remember their names.

Kinda looks like a cross between the Longbow and the Salamander (mech).

Cool design - SRMs and a jump jet are a good combo B-)

That's cool. I think it could benefit from a makeover and improved proportions, but that'll never happen now that it is an official design.

Mostly I don't like it because of the proportions. It feels out of whack to me.

Looks like an Archer and a Dervish had babies.

The hip connection points remind me of a Zeus though.

I like the torso a lot. The sunken cockpit looks practical, which is a word I seldom apply to walking tanks.

did you see the debate on the CBT forums about my Dark Crow design? Some people really hate it. I was going for practicality with that design. Some people do like it though.

Ah, haters gonna hate. =/ I haven't seen the Dark Crow or the thread, yet.

I guess that's a downside to working on games and such. Fans can be really persnickety. And they might not like the Dark Crow, but I would guess most people like your artwork overall.

Sometimes the haters get nasty, but it is fun to see people discuss your work. They actually bring up some good points sometimes and I can learn from them so I'll do a better job next time.

It's too bad that people get nasty about it. At least you're getting some critique, though.

I agree with the poster who said Assassin and Grim Reaper. Personally, I'd like to see what you could do if you redesigned this to give it its own unique design, as opposed to being a FrankenMech.

Arguably the one advantage to not having paying customers - you don't have to satisfy the paying customers.

I sense a little Dervish in it, for sure, with the paddle-like missile launchers. The head shape actually reminds me of the Argus.

I did not liked it much when I saw it the first time in the book...now in a bigger size I like it much better. But would still like to see it with hands and different armament.
I'd say the hip reminds me of a Vulcan and the cockpit of a Thug.

It somewhat reminds me of the Assassin battlemech. Also has a little of the Grim Reaper mech in it I think.

Still, looks like it could pack a punch and be flexible.
