Asmodeus color final by Mecha-Zone Asmodeus color final by Mecha-Zone
I FINALLY colored the winning mech from my "mecha fail" contest. Sorry to delay it for so long but I have to do paying work first.

:star:I am enabling prints for this. Please buy one if you like it :)

I added some Canadian flags because the winner is from Canada. Looking at this image makes me thankful Canada is such a good and peaceful neighbor!!!

Special thanks to :iconrealblacktiger: for the winning design! You rock, man!

Here's his submission

and here's my line art

Why "mecha fail"? This thing looks far too dangerous for a FAIL!

"mecha fail" refers to a contest and not directly to this design. This design is very nice and was the grand prize winner of the contest. Here is a link to the old journal post about the contest so you can see why it is called "mech fail"

I have held another contest since then. Both contests were a lot of fun. Here are links to galleries of all of the contest entries...

Did you design this your self? Cause I've never seen that mech before. If so it's really really well done!! Awesome job!!

this mech was a collaboration. Look at the deviation page again and you'll see the original image. It's the result of a contest I held a few years ago. I posted a bunch of random robot sketches and then other deviants mixed-m-matched the parts into new mech. I re-drew my top 3 favorites and this was one of them.

I was looking through things on dA tagged with "Battletech" out of boredom, and I saw this again and had to take another look (and read the comments). Honestly, I don't see where people are getting the idea that this looks like a Bushwacker - to my eyes, with the arms, the offset cockpit, and the dual missile racks, it looks a lot more like a Cauldron-Born.

Totally XD

I just recently got back into Mechwarrior, but this design was purely pick and pull from the ones availeble.

I think I'm gonna have to pick up the Master's mecha zone book to brush up further.

XD

If I had the money, I'd buy the book. As it is, when you buy the book, you may as well enter his contest to see if you can get a nice original pencil sketch with it.

yes. So will Command mech and Typhoon. All 3 mechs will be colored (Like Asmodeus already is). I'm really putting a lot of effort into coloring all the mechs in the book.

it was a mech created by another DA guy for a contest I held last year. The took bits and pieces of my old drawings and re-combined them into new mechs. Then I made a new drawing of their creation. There was a lot of cool stuff! Check out these links...

I've never even seen the Bushwacker mech before someone mentioned it here. XD

But Dave sure brought out the awesome in this design for sure.

Umm, yeah, if you ever get shot up by a walking bundle of missiles and lasers, blame Canada.

But, yeah, great colour job. If the MechWarrior games looked like this, I'd probably get a bit more enjoyment out of them, actually... blasting a Daishi to very beautiful bits just sounds incredibly fun. I mean, this colouring style could make even your least favourite Assault 'Mech, Mr. Potato-Sunder, look awesome.

yep, all manual. I have tried digital inking and it isn't for me. Too slow except for the ellipses.

ahaha, just as i though,
i have a hard time too in digital lining...
but seriously, for a manual lining its neat, i mean, did u use a ruler or sumthin?
i always do the line manually but its not as clean as u did :)

I use a lot of circle and ellipse templates but most of the straight lines are freehand. I do use a ruler for longer straight lines like gun barrels.

Yes, it is derived from some concept art I created for the MechWarrior 4 computer games. I had a contest for it a few months ago... here are the related posts if you want to check out the entries. There are a lot of cool mechs!

I really wasn't sure what people would say about that. I looked up a bunch of Canadian military pics and they never used the flag on anything except as part of a few division patches. Looks like all my Canadian pals think it is cool so I am relieved.

I wanted to do something special for the winner and I couldn't remember EVER seeing a distinctly Canadian mecha so ... this is what you get.
